Reason for objection:

Strongest possible objection. This signage is already up & a complete assault on the eye, particularly when approaching the Market Place from the north & east. Indeed, this applicant has caused significant harm to the setting of the adjacent grade 2* listed Market House & the surrounding character & appearance of what is one of England’s finest medieval market places. If the applicant wishes to locate & trade in this extremely sensitive setting then they must play by the rules & conform to the LPA’s CAGG: cheap acrylic signage is unacceptable & should be removed forthwith; only traditional hand painted sign writing or, at worst, individually cut powder coated aluminium signage on risers is acceptable; halo illumination is discouraged & justified only where local street lighting is poor - this signage is halo illuminated the entire length of the fascia board which is completely excessive; the size of lettering must be modest & blend in with the character & appearance of the local area - in this case, the existing lettering size must be reduced drastically eg to no more than half size; the aggressive colour palette should be neutralised & respect the historic surroundings; all of the cheaply applied brand logos must be removed from the fascia boards; & all vinyl posters must be removed from the shop windows eg in Kings Passage which should be left as clear as possible.
application, which one should always treat with huge caution...
