Reason for objection:
Objection unless revised.
We support the lower scale of development which relates much better to its grade 2 listed neighbours (Museum & Library) & residential neighbourhood; we also support the choice of materials & finishes which are imaginative & high quality; and soft planting & new public realm which fit well with Fairfield CA and the setting of the Library and museum.
However, the following material issues need to be resolved: development in isolation from future of Cattle Market; Metal ‘crown’ to accommodate sports hall & roof-top plant is too intrusive & should be reduced in height if possible or at least better screened.
