Reason for objection:

Objection. There are several proposed elements here which are completely incongruous & would disrespect the character & appearance of this highly significant (grade 2* listed) heritage asset eg: patterned floor tiling to upper storey (cf new condiments & drinks area); new open staircase without traditional balustrade/ banister rails; addition of a modernistic wall mural at ground floor entrance/ adjacent to staircase; installation of ‘Ashanti’ wall lighting in staircase ‘well’. The cumulative effect of this PA is to disregard the historical importance of this building without any public benefit & should therefore be refused.
