Reason for objection:

Objection The proposed new timber-framed shop window configuration including serving hatch is of incongruous appearance & would cause harm to the character of the grade 2 listed host building. The applicant cites as a precedent the service hatch at 22 Thames St. But there is no planning permission in the LPA’s archive for that. The pavement width at this location is very narrow & any take-away footfall could cause danger. Therefore this feature should be refused as was the case recently with Rosa’s Thai at 2-6 High Street (even if it continues to be used without permission). No details are provided of any other new shop front finishes including signage or the proposed new awning (which should not be heavily branded). No objection to replacement extractor fan at rear of property.
