Reason for objection:
NTH: Objection unless revised as below?
This boundary wall is part of a historic garden wall that extends along the east side of Albany Park Road & is referenced in the CA designation report as a feature of townscape merit. It is a great shame therefore that the LPA has permitted certain neighbouring properties to widen access & install new pedestrian gates at the expense of this heritage asset. #12 would be the latest example.
Original materials (particularly the Victorian capping tiles) must be recycled/ reused to retain a semblance of character. In addition, ‘open’ metal gates, similar to the existing main gate, should be chosen rather than the opaque timber items proposed &, although the PA is silent on this, the new wall must not be spot-lit like #14 & #32 where lighting was added by the same architect without permission as part of wider renovations.
Finally and most importantly, whereas the arboricultural assessment appears to be quite comprehensive, we disagree that trees T1 & T4 are of ‘moderate’ quality - they are both of high quality & form part of the most exceptional avenue of London plane trees in the entire Borough. It is a great concern that these trees are not already subject to TPO's which in our view the council should give urgent attention to. Utmost care must be taken with regard to their fabric/ root areas during any building works.
M&M Quite agree, nothing further to add.
