Reason for objection:
Objection. This PA fails on a number of grounds: LED digital screens in shop windows, yellow illuminated window surrounds, digitally printed graphics blocking shop windows in cloisters - contrary to the LPA’s CAGG & harmful to the character & appearance of the recently renovated Memorial Gardens and Old Town more widely, Kingston’s premier CA.
In addition, in our view the applicant should have provided a DAS &/ or heritage impact statement because, although unlisted, the building is of local architectural significance as a key example of the neo-Tudor style that characterises much 20th century development in Kingston Old Town. As they stand, these changes would harm that character & should be refused.
