Reason for objection:
The CAAC generally would not object to a rear extension, however the following issues concern us:
The bulk and design of this double extension are inappropriate in a conservation area. The mansard design is out of keeping with these Victorian villas and not in keeping with the surrounding houses of this type.
Furthermore, the position of one of the houses on a corner means that the over-bulky development does impact on the street scene.
A rear extension here should not be intrusively visible nor so bulky and should be redesigned without the out-of -keeping mansard element.
